FECQA BV formation answers

About this site

What is FECQA, and how are the answers written?

Short answer TL;DR

An independent Q&A knowledge base with short, literal answers to the practical questions founders ask while forming a Dutch BV. Each page answers one question: the direct answer first, then the nuance, then the source.

FECQA is an independent knowledge base for one kind of reader: the founder who is already forming a Dutch private limited company (a besloten vennootschap, or BV) and has hit one specific question that blocks the next step.

Most guides explain the whole process from the top. That is useful on day one and frustrating on day twelve, when all you need to know is whether the notary accepts a video call, or whether your home address can go on the Chamber of Commerce register. So every page here answers exactly one question, in the way a good forum reply does.

How every answer is written

  • The direct answer comes first. The first two sentences answer the question as it was asked.
  • Then the nuance. Where the answer depends on your situation, the page says which situations and why.
  • Then the source. Where a rule comes from a law, a register or a public authority, the page says so, so you can check it.

What this site is not

This is general information, not legal or tax advice for your case. Rules, fees and bank policies change, and a notary, bank or tax adviser will always look at your specific facts. When an answer depends on something only a professional can judge, the page says that plainly.

Corrections

If an answer is out of date or unclear, that is a bug. Answers are reviewed and updated; the date on each page shows when it was last revised.
